The thing I love about the Mac is the ability to make simple scripts to make applications do more than they were designed to do. Whenever I make something I find useful, I'll put it here.
Make iTunes turn up the volume a bit when it plays a five star rated song. Save this script in your Home folder in /Library/iTunes/scripts/ then run it now and then to go through your library, adjusting the relative volume of all five-star-rated songs by a percentage of your choosing. An iTunes script that renames video podcasts so they appear in release-date order when viewed on a media device like the PS3. Normally, if you use something like Nullriver’s Medialink to copy or stream your content to the PS3, they are ordered by show title. This script puts the date at the front, followed by show name, followed by the title. Just run it before you copy the videos over. Save this script in your Home folder in /Library/iTunes/scripts/ . A handy applescript applet to zip up a huge group of files into archives no bigger than 80mb, for those with problems uploading large files. Designed for image sequences in mind, this chugs through all the images and names the archives accordingly. Put it in your dock and drag files to the icon. Made by David Emeny.
